Travel Route

Rudi's journey began on May 26 at the northernmost point in Europe, Norway's North Cape.

After a quick travel south through Sweden, Denmark and Germany, he reached his home town Luzern two days later.

On August 14, he will leave Luzern eastbound through Austria and the Balkans, enter Asia in Istanbul, then continue south through Syria to Jordan where he will team up with the crew of the Solar Taxi, a project to drive around the world on solar power.

Together they will travel onwards through Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to Oman, where the W123 will embark on the ferry to India.

After crossing India, Rudi will ship his car across the Indian Ocean to Perth. He hopes to reach Bondi Beach three months after departing on his transcontinental journey.

Rudi currently has a passenger, German geography student Sören. He picked him up as a hitchhiker in Finland and for some reason Sören hasn't left the car yet. He has been the map reader and second driver since the North Cape, and he might come along as far as Dubai. In adition, he is making himself useful by designing and running this web site.
